Marc Brys: Belgian coach in talks with NFF as new Super Eagles coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly in talks with Belgian coach, Marc Brys to take charge of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team job.
The coach in charge of Cameron is reportedly in the sights of Nigeria, which is looking for Finidi George’s successor.
The 53-year-old coach Finidi was fired from his post after the Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to Benin on Matchday 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Since then, several names including Antonio Conceiçao have been circulating as potential replacements for George, but nothing has been decided yet and the NFF has looked into Marc Brys, a short-term prospect given that the Belgian is under contract in Cameroon.
Marc Brys does not intend to leave Cameroon yet and is happy in the Central African nation.
According to information from Nieuwsblad, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has ticked Marc Brys’ name on the list of potential successors to Finidi George.
The West African country wants to take advantage of the climate of tension currently prevailing in Cameroonian football to snatch Brys.
No offer has been made to the 62-year-old and if Nigeria plans to make one, it has very little chance of convincing Brys.
Belgian media asked Marc who didn’t deny the contacts but immediately recalled that he feels good in Cameroon despite the particular context in which he works with the standoff between Samuel Eto’o’s Fecafoot (Cameron Football Federation President) and the Ministry of Sports Narcisse Mouelle Koumbi.
Nigeria will therefore have to explore other avenues to find the ideal profile before September and the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the draw for which will be made on July 4 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The team needs a new coach to change the fortunes of the three-time African champions which have three points from four games in the World Cup Qualifiers.
