Napoli reduces Victor Osimhen’s price tag ahead of transfer

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has seen his market value decrease as Napoli re-evaluates their asking price to accommodate new coach Antonio Conte’s signing demands.

The 2023 Serie A champions have reportedly lowered their valuation for the African Best Player to €100 million (₦162 billion).

The 25-year-old Super Eagles star, who signed a new contract with Napoli in December including a €120-130 million release clause, hoped it would be activated this summer as he looks for a new adventure after a positive four-year spell on the Campania coast.

Reports indicate that Napoli adjusted Osimhen’s price tag after European clubs struggled to meet his initial release clause. Eager to leave Napoli this summer, Osimhen is eyeing a move to England or France.

New Napoli coach Antonio Conte has identified Romelu Lukaku as a primary target for the upcoming season. However, a deal for the Chelsea striker can’t be finalized until Osimhen is sold, putting negotiations on hold.

Meanwhile, Daniele Longo of Calciomercato suggests that Napoli has yet to receive any offers for Osimhen but is willing to consider proposals in the region of €100 million as they aim to cash in on the striker this summer.
