John Obi Mikel eyes highest coaching record in Africa

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel is now considering a transition into coaching following a motivational encounter with his former manager, Carlo Ancelotti.

The Real Madrid manager is the latest guest on Mikel’s popular podcast where they both engaged in a candid chats and he expressed his belief in the Nigerian’s potential as a coach.

Speaking on his latest podcast, the former Super Eagles captain offered an exclusive glimpse into his encounter with the legendary Italian manager.

“We need to get you into management, John,” Carlo Ancelotti urged Mikel.

“He’s probably seen something I haven’t seen. Who knows, I might become the most successful African manager,” Mikel told his co-anchor.

“Finally, I was like, yes, boss, I think I will do it,” Obi shared after Ancelotti repeated it for the fifth time.

“I was like ‘I’m going to do my badges, I am going to make sure I go into it’.”
