Morgan Gibbs-White celebrates Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal drought ending

By Monsurah Olatunji

Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest has shared his joy after witnessing Taiwo Awoniyi, the Nigerian forward, finally break his Premier League goal drought.

In a commanding 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, Forest moved level on 40 points with Arsenal, who are second in the EPL standings.

Awoniyi, who came on as a substitute in the 88th minute, wasted no time making an impact.

In stoppage time, he scored a well-placed goal from a perfectly timed assist by James Ward-Prowse, sealing the victory for Forest.

This goal marked the end of Awoniyi’s long goal drought, which had lasted since February 2024, with his last Premier League goal coming in a 2-0 win over West Ham.

Gibbs-White took to social media to express his delight after the match.

On his official Instagram story, he shared a photo of him and Awoniyi in the dressing room, accompanied by a heartfelt message: “[I’m] so happy for you, brother.”
