Nigeria Premier Football League to honour Ogunmodede, Anas on September 2
By Dayo Awoniyi
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has fixed Tuesday, September 2nd as the new date to celebrate two of the standout performers from the 2024/25 season — Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede and Nasarawa United striker Yusuf Anas — in Abuja.
The recognition ceremony, which had been delayed due to both men’s involvement with the CHAN Eagles during preparations and the tournament itself, will now finally hold with full honours.
Confirming the new date, NPFL Chairman Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye reiterated the league’s commitment to rewarding excellence as part of its wider efforts to raise the profile of domestic football.
“It has been our policy to encourage players, coaches and entire teams to elevate the quality of our league football through outstanding performances,” Elegbeleye said.
“We have consistently rewarded our best clubs, the highest goalscorers, and best-performing coaches in conjunction with our investment partner, GTI Assets Management.”
Anas, who netted 17 goals to finish as the league’s top scorer, was instrumental in Nasarawa United’s strong campaign, while Ogunmodede made history by guiding Remo Stars to their first-ever league title.
According to Elegbeleye, each honouree will receive a cash prize of ₦1.5 million along with a commemorative plaque in recognition of their achievements.
The ceremony underscores the NPFL’s renewed drive to spotlight individual brilliance and inspire others within the league to aim for higher standards.
