Blessing Abiola: Bayelsa Queens captain mourns demise of husband

The husband of Bayelsa Queens captain, Blessing Abiola has passed on.

Bayelsa Queens confirmed the demise of Ibrahim Abiola in a press release on Saturday.

Abiola’s death, according to the statement, occurred on Friday, May 23, 2025.

“Mr. Ibrahim Abiola’s death is not just a loss to his family but also the wider football community in Nigeria,” Bayelsa Queens chairman, Pastor Robin Apreala, said.

“He was a man who lived a life of purpose and made meaningful contributions to humanity.”

Apreala extended the club’s prayers and support to Captain Blessing Abiola during this difficult time.

Abiola has a key player of the Prosperity Girls and played continental football with Edo Queens in 2024.

In 2025, she led Bayelsa Queens to the league title in Ikenne before the death of her husband.
