Stanley Nwabali Confident Super Eagles Can Still Secure 2026 World Cup Spot

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite a challenging start to their campaign.

After six matches, Nigeria sit fourth in Group C with seven points—six behind leaders South Africa.

Speaking at a charity match hosted by teammate William Troost-Ekong in Lagos, Nwabali acknowledged the difficulty ahead but emphasized the team’s determination:
“We are working towards it. I know it’s not going to be easy. Just because we are Nigerian doesn’t mean we will win every game. But we are going to give it everything.”

The Super Eagles will resume their qualification push in September after the June international break.
