The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has extended the tenure of the executive boards of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) until the end of its current administration on September 29, 2026.
The decision, announced after an NFF Executive Committee meeting, aims to ensure continuity and sustained development across Nigeria’s football league system.
The extension comes as the previous two-year mandate given to the league boards, which began on July 1, 2023, officially ended on June 30, 2025.
In a statement, the NFF commended the performance of the league boards over the past two years and urged them to redouble efforts in delivering more organized and commercially attractive competitions.
“We appreciate the work done by the boards so far and expect an even higher level of commitment and innovation in managing the leagues,” the NFF said.
However, the NFF Executive Committee deferred a decision on the future of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) board, led by Nkechi Nneka Obi, indicating that the matter would be revisited at a later date.
