The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has confirmed that the 2025 NWFL Championship will be staged in Abia State from September 11–21, 2025.
Seventeen clubs will compete in the second-tier competition, which offers four promotion spots to the NWFL Premiership for the 2025/26 season.
Teams will be split into four groups, with the winners of each group advancing directly to the top flight.
Matches will be hosted at the Abiriba Stadium and Umuahia Township Stadium, with fixtures kicking off on September 13 after teams arrive and the official draw is conducted.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi said the Championship will uphold “the highest standards of fair play, transparency, integrity and sporting excellence.”
The competition follows the successful 2024/25 Premiership Super 6 earlier this year in Ikenne.
Participating teams are Sunshine Queens, Osun Babes, Royal Queens, Pelican Stars, Ghetto Tigers, Wazbak Int’l, Castmog Ladies, Chosen Generation Angels, Imo Striker Queens, Unification FC, Delta Babes, Ahudiyannem Queens, First Mahi Babes, Fortress Ladies, Kwara Ladies, Moje Queens, Gallant Queens.
Last season, Ibom Angels and Honey Badgers (renamed Benue Queens) gained promotion when Cross Rivers State hosted the league in Calabar.
