Kwara United General Manager, Bashir Badawiy, has expressed confidence in the Harmony Boys’ ability to compete strongly in the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking at a celebration in honour of three distinguished sports icons in Kwara State, Badawiy praised the technical crew’s work ethic and the team’s preparations, describing them as among the best in recent years.
“The team management and technical staff have worked assiduously to give the state the best, and our preparation is top notch,” he said. “Our ambition is high—to create history with the team, just like we did last season with the FA Cup championship. We are cooking bigger for the new season.”
He also commended the unwavering support of Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, particularly his investment in sports infrastructure and motivation of the players.
“I want to thank our Governor for rehabilitating the Rashid Yekini Stadium and for consistently supporting the team. His Excellency has shown great commitment by fulfilling promises, including rewarding the players for their FA Cup victory,” Badawiy added.
Kwara United ended a 30-year wait for silverware when they lifted the 2024 FA Cup, defeating Abakaliki FC in a dramatic final. The triumph secured their ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup, a competition they last featured in during the 2021/22 campaign when they fell to Morocco’s RS Berkane.
With the Rashid Yekini Stadium in Ilorin undergoing renovation, the club hopes to build on last season’s success and establish itself as a formidable force domestically and across Africa.
