Cardiff City have completed the signing of defender Gabriel Osho from French side AJ Auxerre on a four-year deal, subject to international clearance. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.
Osho, 25, began his career at Reading before moving to Luton Town in 2020, where he quickly established himself as a dependable figure in defence. He played a key role in the Hatters’ remarkable 2022/23 promotion campaign, helping them secure a historic place in the Premier League.
The centre-back went on to feature in 21 top-flight matches last season, scoring twice, including a memorable first Premier League goal in front of the Kenilworth Road crowd against Arsenal.
Speaking to Cardiff TV after completing the move, Osho expressed his delight: “I’m really happy and really excited.
“It’s been a long time in the works, so to finally be here at the stadium and in the city has been good. I’m buzzing to get going.”
He credited his strong relationship with manager Brian Barry-Murphy as a decisive factor in his move.
“Brian played a big part. I had a really good time at Rochdale, and the connection I built with him and the staff there was pretty amazing. That relationship was definitely a contributing factor.”
Osho previously worked with Barry-Murphy during a loan spell at Rochdale, an experience that helped shape his development and forged a bond he is now set to rekindle in South Wales.
With his arrival, Cardiff City have added a defender with proven Championship and Premier League pedigree as they aim to strengthen their push for promotion.
