Nigeria forward Joy Omewa continued her impressive form on the continental stage, scoring the decisive goal that fired Fortuna Hjørring into Round Three of the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.
The reigning Danish champions edged Swiss side Young Boys 1-0 on Saturday, with Omewa netting the winner in the 58th minute of a tightly contested encounter.
The forward, who started the match, was substituted in the 83rd minute for Risako Watanabe after another influential display.
Omewa’s performance reflects her status as one of the league’s standout players.
Last season, the former Confluence Queens striker emerged as both the Danish league top scorer and Player of the Year, and she is now carrying that form into Europe.
With Fortuna Hjørring advancing to the next stage, Omewa will be hoping her goalscoring prowess can guide the Danish side into the Champions League group stage.
