Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie marked her Barclays Women’s Super League debut for Brighton & Hove Albion Women with a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Aston Villa on Sunday.
The reigning African Goalkeeper of the Year, who joined Brighton from Paris FC ahead of the 2025/26 season, delivered a commanding performance between the posts, making four saves to deny Villa a breakthrough.
Nnadozie played the full 90 minutes, producing two crucial saves inside the box, completing two high claims, executing 2/2 successful sweeper runs, and adding three punches, five clearances, and two aerial duel wins.
She was also heavily involved in Brighton’s build-up play, registering 44 touches.
Her stellar display earned her a match rating of 7.6 — the highest among Brighton players on the day.
The Nigerian shot-stopper arrived in England on the back of an outstanding 2025 campaign with Paris FC and the Super Falcons.
Her accolades included:17 clean sheets in all competitions, Coupe de France winner with Paris FC, UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification with Paris FC, French league playoff appearance, 2024 WAFCON champion with Super Falcons, and WAFCON Golden Glove winner.
Brighton will look to build on their solid defensive showing when they return to league action later this month, with Nnadozie already proving why she is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.
