Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has declared his side battle ready for their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash with Comoros heavyweights US Zilimadjou.
The Nigeria Premier Football League champions will host the first-leg encounter on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, as they begin their quest to reach the group stage of Africa’s elite club competition.
Ogunmodede, speaking ahead of the game, admitted the weight of expectation on his team but expressed confidence in their ability to rise to the occasion.
“I use to tell people that my name is Pressure — Daniel Ogunmodede Pressure,” he said. “I know there is pressure to progress, but we will fight hard.”
Remo Stars have stepped up preparations during the week, with Ogunmodede emphasizing resilience, tactical discipline, and clinical finishing as key to their chances of success.
Founded in 1983, US Zilimadjou are one of Comoros’ most successful clubs, boasting six league titles, second only to Coin Nord. Their pedigree means the visitors are unlikely to be pushovers despite playing away from home.
With both teams bringing ambition and history into the contest, fans in Abeokuta are expected to witness an electric atmosphere on Sunday as Remo Stars aim for a winning start to their continental campaign.
