Kwara United has issued a formal apology to its supporters following the club’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup after a 5–3 aggregate defeat to Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko.
The Harmony Boys were eliminated at the preliminary stage of the competition, with the decisive blow coming in Sunday’s second leg, where Hubert Gyalu’s 53rd-minute strike secured a 2–1 victory for Kotoko in Kumasi.
In a statement released by the club, Chairman Kumbi Titiloye described the result as a “bitter pill to swallow” and extended heartfelt apologies to fans, pledging a renewed focus on domestic success.
“We apologize to our teeming and loyal fans and supporters for this unfortunate result. It was never our plan to crash out at this early stage,” Titiloye stated.
He added that the club would treat the setback as motivation to bounce back in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“We are poised to come back stronger, make amends in the league, and give our supporters something to cheer about,” he said.
Kwara United’s elimination marks a disappointing end to their continental ambitions this season, but the club insists the experience will serve as a learning curve as they turn attention to their domestic campaign.
