By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Bendel Insurance Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Kennedy Boboye as the new Technical Manager of the Edo-based side, with his official unveiling scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Benin City.

The club’s management announced the decision on Monday, stating that the appointment followed a mutual agreement between both parties. Boboye has been handed full responsibility for overseeing the club’s technical affairs with immediate effect.

A former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title-winning coach, Boboye’s appointment is seen as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the technical structure of the Benin Arsenals. The club cited his impressive résumé, leadership qualities, and extensive experience in domestic football as key factors in the selection process.

Boboye has signed a two-year contract, aligning with Bendel Insurance’s long-term vision for sustained improvement and competitiveness.

“The management is confident that Coach Boboye’s arrival will usher in a new era of excellence, renewed confidence, and enhanced performance across all levels of the team,” the club said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has extended his appreciation to Coach Baldwin Bazuaye (MON), an Executive Director at the Commission, for stepping in as interim technical manager following the suspension of Greg Ikhenoba on October 6.

Boboye, who has previously managed Akwa United and Plateau United, both of whom he led to NPFL titles, is expected to bring tactical discipline and a winning mentality to the club.
