Former Rangers International FC forward Chisom Egbuchulam scored five goals as his Chinese side, Meizhou Hakka earned a 2-5 win over Shijiazhuang Gongfu in the Round of 32 of the Chinese FA Cup on Wednesday.
Chisom Egbuchulam scored two goals in the 14th and 17th minute of the first half to hand his team a 0-2 lead at halftime.
After the interval, Yihu Yang made it 0-3 in the 59th minute before two goals from Chisom Egbuchulam in the 63rd and 71st minutes respectively increased Meizhou Hakka’s lead to five.
Shijiazhuang Gongfu tried to muster a comeback with goals from Zhang Hao and Alexsandro dos Santos in the 73rd and 79th minutes.
Egbuchulam’s fifth goal of the game ended any chance of a comeback and the 30-year-old is yet to score a goal in the Chinese Super League this season but five goals in a FA Cup game might spur him to open his league account for the season in his team’s next game with Wuhan Three Towns.
He joined Meizhou Hakka from Suwon FC in 2020 after playing for Hacken and Falkenberg after leaving Rangers International FC in 2016.
Meizhou Hakka occupy the ninth position on the 18-team Chinese Super League with 40 points from 25 games ahead of its next league game against Wuhan Three Towns at the Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium, Wuhan on November 21, 2022.
