NWFL Premiership: Ben Nwoke unsatisfied with Heartland draw with Rivers Angels

By Saheed Afolabi
Heartland Queens coach, Ben Nwoke says he was not satisfied with Heartland Queens’ 0-0 draw at home to former champions Rivers Angels in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership.
The Owerri based outfit had pulled off another shock result against former winners Rivers Angels just two weeks they recorded a goalless draw against holders Bayelsa Queens in Yenagoa.
Despite a second hard fought draw against the Jewel of Rivers, Nwoke insists they had what it takes to take Rivers Angels to the cleaners, stressing that getting a draw was not a good idea, while hailing his goalkeeper’s herioc.
“For me, at this point, I’m highly disappointed at the outcome of the game,” the manager told media.
“It’s a game we had all it takes to go home with the maximum three points considering the fact that we are at home. Losing our first two games to Naija Ratels and Delta Queens and going to Bayelsa to pick a valuable point and coming back home to draw against Rivers Angels do not speak well about us.
“Not a dispute we played against an experienced side, several times former champions and you know Heartland Queens are underdogs coming back to the topflight and trying to do the needful. However, I give kudos to the defenders and goalkeeper, goalkeeper was very good.
“The problems are we still suffer from lack of concentration in the midfield and attack. The attackers are very shy getting the goals, getting the goals are the best reasons we play football.
“I think a game has been played and the result has been noted, it’s for us to go back to the drawing board and restrategise on how we will go to Warri and do the needful. For me I believe it’s not yet over for Heartland Queens, the game is still on.”
In four matches, Heartland Queens have failed to record a win and Nwoke is confident about his side beating the drop as she believes that they still can still win their games.
“Heartland Queens will not go down on relegation I’m quite optimistic about that. We still have eight games to play, four home and four away and I believe with the level of play now and with what I have seen, we can get it right,” he continued.
“I believe we can get five straight wins and once we started to win nothing whatsoever would stop us again.
“That’s why I badly wanted us to start winning right here today but I believe strongly we can get it right in Warri all things remaining the same.”
