Enyimba defeat Ahudiya Nnem to retain Abia State FA Cup
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Enyimba International of Aba retained the FA Cup title following a 4-1 victory over Ahudiya Nnem FC of Abiriba in the final of the 2023 Abia State finals on Sunday.
The People’s Elephants started impressively in search of the opening goal but were made to wait until the 43rd minute when Moses Omoduemuke nodded past goalkeeper Uche Nwobodo to break the deadlock.
After the restart, Chukwuemeka Obioma doubled the lead for the Nigeria Premier Football League outfit when he also headd home Uwana Asuquo’s cross in the 53rd minute.
Three minutes later, Ikenna Cooper scored a beautiful goal after beating the goalkeeper and some defenders to make it 3-0.
Ahudiya, however, responded late when Maxwell Ijoma stole the ball from Alalibo Somiari and then chipped the ball over Noble for the consolation two minutes from time.
At the death, Omoduemuke found space to latch on a well-taken shot  and completed the rout for Enyimba.
Regardless of the result, Enyimba and Ahudiya Nnem are billed to represent Abia State in the upcoming national finals.
In the third-place playoff game, Abia Warriors failed to honour the game and Uchecharia FC were awarded the game through a walkover.
