By Wale Mustapha
Ibrahim Shola Adewuyi is confident of making a huge success in the Nigeria National League with Kogi United following a 1-0 win over Mighty Jets in Lokoja on Saturday.
The Lokoja based side were playing their second consecutive league games at home after being held to a 0-0 draw by Hypebuzz FC in the midweek and needed a 10th minutes penalty from Salisu Tanko to earn a win over the Jos’ foes.
Following the slim win, the former Kogi United assistant coach has lauded his boys’ performance, while assuring fans and management to build a formidable squad capable of achieving the elusive topflight promotion this season.
“We were not too comfortable with the result of the first match, so we need to talk to the boys, psyche them up and let them know why its important to go all out and win this match,” Adewuyi told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“We are relieved to have win this, its a tough game against a very tactical side and we are confident this will help build the team’s confidence going into subsequent matches.
“After the last two disappointing seasons when the team went on relegation, there’s need for us to rededicate to how we will build Kogi United back to she it belong among the contenders for promotion playoffs and even fight for Premier League status.
“We know what we are to do, we know what’s at stake for the team and we are ready to do everything to achieve the goal, we will continue to work on the team to be more stronger and formidable. with God on our side we will make that happen,” he concluded.
Up next for Kogi United is a trip to Soun Stadium in Ogbomoso where they will be locking horns with ABS FC for the Matchday Three while Mighty Jets will play host to Hypebuzz FC.
