U20 World Cup: Mistakes cost us victory against Nigeria – Italy’s Carmine Nunziata

By Saheed Afolabi
Italy U20 coach, Carmine Nunziata says his side lost to Nigeria due to the mistakes they made in Mendosa on Wednesday.
Cruising from a 3-2 victory over Brazil, the Gli Azzurrini capitulated against the Flying Eagles, losing in their second group match at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.
The Italian tactician believes Nigeria were the better with their physicality as he bemoans his side non utilization of spaces.
“It was a difficult match especially on a physical level,” quoted by Complete Sports.
”Nigeria was going twice as fast as us. We had the occasion of the crossbar and we could have made better use of the spaces.
“Instead we made a lot of mistakes on a technical level and in the end it’s normal to get into trouble as the minutes go by. Now we need to regain strength, play a great game against the Dominican Republic and go through.”
The Flying will square up against the Brazilians in their last group game having sealed a round of 16 spot by accumulating six points from two matches.
