Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Bayelsa Queens has unveiled Gambia national team goalkeeper, Matty Manga.
The former Abuko FC goalie was unveiled by the Prosperity Girls on Tuesday. She will put on jersey number one for the team as the Yenegoa-based side prepares to reclaim the league title when the 2023/2024 season gets underway.
Manga’s signing was activated after the departure of Cameroon first-choice goalkeeper, Ange Bawou Gabriella.
Bawou joined Kazakhstan side BIIK Kazygurt after the end of the 2022/2023 regular season in Nigeria.
The best goalkeeper in the NWFL Premiership at the end of the 2022/2023 season was instrumental in helping the team win the league title, WAFU-B title, and a bronze medal at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Manga has a big lacuna to fill at the club and joined Touta Evannick (Cameroon) and Natasha Witika (Zambia) as the third foreign player in the squad.
More foreign players are expected to join Bayelsa Queens before the commencement of the league campaign next season.
