By Wale Mustapha
Governor Hyacinth Iormen Alia of Benue State has inaugurated five-man committee that will add more support for Lobi Stars to achieve more successes in the coming Nigeria Premier Football League, (NPFL) season.
At a brief meeting with the players and officials of the club held at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi on Wednesday, Governor Alia noted that the new committee to be headed the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajo would held to chart a way forward and initiate modalities aiming at helping the club grow stronger.
The Deputy Governor of the State who is also the Chairman of Lobi Stars, Barrister Sam Ode said the State Government have received briefings about Lobi Stars and have decided to create an avenue where inputs will be gathered for decision-making for the growth of the club.
Ode who announced his principal as the Ambassador of Lobi Stars, urged everyone to trust the Alia-led administration in the state to reposition Lobi Stars for greater gains.
Lobi Stars captain, Daniel Atsaka acknowledged the significant impact of the club’s Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dominic Iorfa in keeping the club in the NPFL after all hope was lost when the club was in 19th position in the 2021/2022 season.
Atsaka maintained Iorfa’s intervention through the state government saw the club performed creditably at the 2022/2023 abridged season where they finished second position which guaranteed the club’s Super Six spot.
Governor Alia acknowledged the contributions of Iorfa and promised to do his best to ensure Lobi Stars get the best results in the coming season.
Other members of the five man committee for Lobi Stars are Director of Sports, Philip Nongo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, John Tor Akume, Aondofa Akosu, and Chief Godwin Uwua.
