By Monsurah Olatunji

American-born Nigeria international Antionette Oyedupe Payne received a guard of honor on return to her club.
The Super Falcons midfielder is back to her club side Sevilla in Spain following her exploits for  Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Sevilla confirmed the return of Payne to the club. In a video on their social media platforms, Payne was seen receiving touches from her teammates upon her return to the club.
She played an integral role as the Super Falcons were undefeated in regular time of all matches played for the first time in their history. The 26-year-old started all four games for the Super Falcons at the tournament before losing 4-2 on penalties against England in the Round of 16.
She played all 90 minutes in the goalless draws against Olympic Champions Canada and the final group game against the Republic of Ireland.
She was substituted in the comeback win against hosts Australia and the loss on penalties in the round of 16 to the Lionesses of England.
The Sevilla star was among the stand-out performers listed by FIFA for the most chances created per 90 minutes having played in 270 minutes or more.
She is now expected to help Sevilla as they go through pre-season for their new season outing in the Spanish Liga F.
