Abuja comes alive with FCT ALGON Chairman’s Cup on September 29

Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory will be the center of attention from 29th of September till 10th October, 2023 for the inaugural edition of FCT Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON Chairman’s Cup.
The tournament that is billed for Kwali Area Council will see Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC football team taking on Soccer Excel Academy for the opening match slated for 2pm at Area 3 football pitch.
It will be followed by the encounter between Kwali team and Gwagwalada Area Council by 4pm.
Head of Local Organizing Committee for the tournament, Ambassador Moses Ebahor, other teams that will compete for the diadem are Kuje, Abaji, Bwari, Boknor Academy, Mambai Pro Academy and Restoration Academy.
Ambassador Ehabor also further revealed that the championship will be a yearly event will have its quarter finals taking place on 6th October, while semifinal will be decided on 8th of October.
He added that the aim of floating the tournament is primarily to discover young talented footballers at the grassroot.
In addition, the organizers have promised to sponsor five best players identified at the tournament to further their football career in Europe.
Chairman of Kwali Area Council who initiated the tournament, Hon. Danladii Chiya has promised to support the growth of grassroot football in the Area by floating a standard football academy that will have good training pitches and a five star hotel.
