‘Advantage Liverpool’ the latest on the future of midfield star
Liverpool currently hold the advantage in the chase for midfield general Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of the summer transfer window, it has been revealed.
The Frenchman is excelling with current club Monaco, and has caught the eye of just about every club in world football with his displays, with the 22-year-old having racked up 33 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.
He has also made 8 national team appearances, starring next to Paul Pogba in the Nations League final victory over Spain in October.
And, there is plenty of interest around him, with Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid and Liverpool all in the hunt for his signature, along with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.
However, as per French journalist Julien Maynard, it is Jurgen Klopp’s side who has the advantage, just ahead of Real Madrid, at this present time.
The future of Aurélien Tchouaméni has not yet been decided – PSG are still hoping – but it is Liverpool and Real Madrid who hold the rope to welcome the international midfielder from Monaco next season (advantage Liverpool, for the hour). #Mercato

Where would he fit?
Tchouameni, of course, would be following in the footsteps of Fabinho should he swap Monaco for Merseyside, with the Brazilian now considered one of the best defensive midfielders in world football.
Of course, on the flip side, the Frenchman would also be competing with the 28-year-old for a starting berth in all likelihood, although he could also move further forwards to replace the ageing Jordan Henderson if need be.
He would certainly add another young option to a midfield that is undoubtedly ageing, with Henderson and James Milner both now the wrong side of 30 years old, though all of Naby Keita, Thiago and Fabinho remain in their peak years.
Whether Liverpool could agree a deal for the Frenchman before Real Madrid pounce is another matter, with Eduardo Camavinga already having swapped France for the Bernabeu in the last 12 months, but he would certainly be a brilliant acquisition if they could bring him to Merseyside.
