Afcon 2023: 17 players hit Super Eagles camp ahead of first training in Abu Dhabi

Not less than 17 players have reported to the camp of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Super Eagles’ camp officially opened with the coaching staff and some players on Tuesday.

As of Wednesday morning; captain Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo, Moses Simon, Olorunleke Ojo, Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, Jo Aribo, and Frank Onyeka are already in camp.

Bruno Onyeamachi, Chidozie Awaziem, Zaidu Sanusi, Victor Boniface, Raphael Onyedika, and Bright Osayi Samuel complete the list of 17 players in camp.

The players in camp are expected to observe their first training on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi camp will last for a week until Tuesday, 9th January.

The team will fly back to Lagos on Tuesday 9th January, and then fly into the Ivorian capital, Abidjan on Wednesday, 10th January.

The Super Eagles, in their quest for a fourth continental title, will take on Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, 14th January in their first match of Group A, before further clashes with host nation Cote d’Ivoire (18th January) and Guinea Bissau (22nd January).
