AFCON 2023: Ademola Lookman upbeat about Nigeria must-win against Ivory Coast

Nigeria winger, Ademola Lookman has backed his national team to defeat Ivory Coast when they meet of their Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) battle at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan.

Lookman had a fair outing in a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea and provided the assist for the goal scored by Victor Osimhen on his first of debut in the continent’s premier football competition.

The Super Eagles star feels they have the quality to silence the Ivorians and their home crowd.

“We are all looking forward to the game against Ivory Coast and I see no reason why we should be afraid of them,” Lookman told Nigeriafootball.ng exclusively.

“They will have the crowd rooting for them, which will be good for them, but we have the experience to deal with that.

“For us, it’s a game we have to win taking into cognisance the result of the first game. We will go all out and make sure we make our country proud.”

A win for the Super Eagles against the Elephants will give them a better footing in the AFCON group A standings.
