AFCON 2023: Daniel Amokachi heaps praise on Jean Krasso for fine Cote d’Ivoire goal

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Former Nigeria forward, Daniel Amokachi has praised Cote d’Ivoire’s Jean Philippe Krasso following his outstanding goal in a 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau in the opening match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

The hosts had taken an early lead with Seko Mohamed Fofana’s superb strike in the fourth minute of the match.

Amazingly, it was the second goal scored by Krasso that caught the headlines of over 36,000 fans inside the Stade Alassane Ouattara, Ebimpe, Abidjan on Saturday.

Krasso’s clever volley finished got the praises of Amokachi who was in the commentary box for the game.

Reacting to Cote d’Ivoire’s second goal, Amokachi said: “Bamba kept going and had a run with the ball, in between his legs, and putting that cross in.

“Like you said Jean-Philippe Krasso could have easily given up but good skills, good strength, and good awareness to have a good contact on the ball.”

The win put the host on top of Group A with three points.

Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea meant the three-time African champions have a lot to do in their next game.

The game will be against host, Cote D’Ivoire on Thursday at the same venue.
