AFCON 2023: Efe Ambrose leaks Nigeria’s tactical lapses ahead of Ivory Coast duel
By Wale Mustapha
Former Nigeria defender, Efe Ambrose has identified major shortcomings of Super Eagles that must be addressed on time ahead of their clash against Ivory Coast in the 2023 African Cup of Nations clash on Thursday.
Jose Peseiro’s men managed to play a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday in their opening game, thanks to Victor Osimhen’s goal that canceled out a goal from Ivan Salvador.

The Super Eagles will face hosts in a must-win game to avoid early elimination from the group stage.

Efe Ambrose had starred for Eagles in the early 2000 and has tasked the coaches to enforce an identified team play against the Ivorians.
“You have to play first as a team – it is not about individuals,” Ambrose was quoted by DailyPost.
“I think that is what we are lacking right now – that team, that togetherness. I don’t think that it is not there, but it is not up to where it should be.
“Individuals will have the talent, they have everything but it is about how to assemble the right players with quality together, to work together as one.”
The match between the Super Eagles and the Ivorians will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Ebimpe by 6pm.
