Victorious Guinea-Bissau national team have returned home following Friday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixture against Nigeria.
The Wild Dogs defeated Super Eagles 1-0 in the third round of matches after recording one of their most important victories in football history over the three-time African kings.
On arrival, the players and officials were welcomed by the president of the Football Federation of Guinea-Bissau, Carlos Alberto Mendes Teixeira [Caito], at the Osvaldo Vieira International Airport, in Bissau.
The team will rest in one of the hotels in the city of Bissau before heading to train at the 24 de Setembro National Stadium.
Guinea Bissau would be aiming to complete a double over Peseiro’s Eagles when both teams meet on Monday at the Estadio Nacional 24 de Setembro.
Should that happen, Cande’s side will secure a place at the biennial African football showpiece in Cote d’Ivoire with two matches to spare.
