AFCON 2023: Stanley Nwabali unsatisfied despite clean sheet against Cote d’Ivoire

Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is unsatisfied with his performance despite recording a clean for the match against Cote d’Ivoire in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Abidjan.
Standing at 1.97m, the NPFL product was drafted into the Super Eagles squad as competition for the starting spot considering the consistent errors from Francis Uzoho.
William Troost-Ekong’s well-drilled shot from the spot kick made all the difference as Nigeria will play their final group game against Guinea-Bissau on Monday as they look to seal qualification from Group A.
Despite the 1-0 victory over the hosts in front of their home fans, the 27-year-old made three crucial saves to stop the Elephants to draw praise rom fans but the Chippa United safe hands admits he’s not happy with his performance.
“No, I’m not happy,” the 27-year-old told Soccernet.
“I feel I should be doing more for my country, so I don’t feel it was a great game for me, or how my game usually is.
“However, I’m happy about the team’s win, but my performance is unlike me. I want to play the ball more, be more confident, and enjoy myself.”
