AFCON 2025: Tunisia’s Moutassar Taibli Confident Carthage Eagles Can Contain Nigeria’s Attack

Tunisia defender Moutassar Taibli has outlined how the Carthage Eagles plan to deal with Nigeria’s attacking firepower ahead of their crucial Group C clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The two former African champions will face off on Saturday in their second group match, with both sides eyeing an early qualification spot in the Round of 16 after winning their opening fixtures.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Taibli acknowledged the quality and depth of Nigeria’s attack but expressed confidence in Tunisia’s defensive organisation and experience.

“We know Nigeria’s attackers are high-level players, but with experience and concentration the result will be positive,” Taibli said.

Nigeria arrive into the contest boasting several in-form forwards who have impressed at both club and international level, making the Super Eagles one of the most dangerous attacking teams in the tournament.

With both Tunisia and Nigeria level on three points in Group C, Saturday’s clash is expected to be intense and tactical, as victory would guarantee progression to the knockout stage and potentially decide who finishes top of the group.

The high-stakes showdown promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the group phase as two African heavyweights battle for supremacy in Fès.
