African Football League: Olorunleke Ojo focuses on upsetting Wydad in Casablanca

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Enyimba’s Olorunleke Ojo is confident that the People’s Elephant can get a positive result at the end of Thursday’s return leg game of the African Football League (AFL) quarter-final clash with Wydad Casablanca.

Wydad picked a precious win in Nigeria with Yahya Jabrane’s penalty separating both sides at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Finidi George’s side will have to record their first win over the Casablanca-based side to be able to have any chance of progressing to the semi-final of the maiden AFL which goalkeeper and captain says is achievable.

“We have played them in Nigeria but lost, unfortunately. As a team and professionals we have put that behind us,” Ojo told journalists during a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

“We are also here to play and win. We are very positive coming here that they beat us in Nigeria, we are also here to beat them as well.

The Nigerian side arrived in Morocco late for the match due to landing permit issues and will have a training session before the game slated for Thursday.

“Although we faced lots of challenges before getting here but as professionals, we don’t have to complain much even though we know it will also speak out,” he continued.

“We are ready and have spoken to ourselves after the challenges to just have to focus on the task ahead which is to see that we win.

“We won’t see that as an excuse not to give our all. I am very positive that we are not going to leave here empty-handed.”

The game will be held at the Mohamed V Sports Complex, Casablanca on Thursday by 7:00 pm Nigerian time.
