Agbo’s Red Card Dampens Standard Liege’s Defeat, Ambrose’s Hibs Secure Draw against Hearts

Nigerian defender Uche Agbo endured a disappointing evening in his 21st league start for Standard Liege as he was sent off in their 2-1 defeat to Kortrijk in a Belgian Pro League clash on Wednesday night. Agbo received his first caution from the referee in the 34th minute, and just three minutes into the second half, he was shown a red card, leaving his team with a numerical disadvantage.
Despite the setback, Razvan Marin managed to find the back of the net in the 65th minute, giving Standard Liege a glimmer of hope. However, an own goal from Luis Pedro Cavanda in the 83rd minute leveled the score for the hosts, Kortrijk. Jeremy Perbet then sealed the victory for Kortrijk in the 90th minute, leaving Standard Liege empty-handed.
With this loss, Kortrijk climbed to seventh place in the league table, accumulating 26 points from 21 games. Standard Liege, on the other hand, find themselves tied on points but with an inferior goal difference.
Unfortunately, Agbo’s red card means he will miss Standard Liege’s upcoming home clash against Eupen on January 20, 2018. The absence of the Nigerian defender will undoubtedly be felt by his team, who will be hoping to bounce back from this defeat.
Meanwhile, in Scotland, Efe Ambrose put in a solid performance for Hibernian, as they held Hearts to a goalless draw on Wednesday night. Ambrose, who has made 22 Scottish Premiership appearances this season and scored once, showcased his defensive prowess once again. Hibernian currently occupy the fourth spot in the league standings, with 34 points from 22 games.
Both Agbo and Ambrose have been integral to their respective teams this season, and their contributions will continue to be vital as they strive for success in their respective leagues.
