Ageless Bartholomew Ogbeche powers Hyderabad to victory over Goa
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
2002 FIFA World Cup revelation, Bartholomew Ogbeche had a hand in Hyderabad’s lone goal as the Indian Super League (ISL) side pipped Goa 1-0 on Sunday.
The former Paris Saint German (PSG) forward set up Spanish forward, Javier Siverio Toro who scored Hyderabad’s winning goal in the tenth minute.
Goa had the chance of equalising from the penalty spot but Alvaro Vazquez missed the spot kick in the 83rd minute.
Bartholomew Ogbeche saw 66 minutes of play as the 38-year-old forward was replaced by Spanish defender, Borja Herrera. He has scored two goals in four league games for Hyderabad this season with an assist.
Journeyman, Ogbeche has played for Metz, Valladolid, Cadiz CF, Kavala, Middlesbrough, Xerez CD,  Cambur, Willem II, North East United, Kerala Blaster, and Mumbai City before joining Hyderabad last season as he scored 18 goals in 20 league games.
The goal-scoring feat of last season made Bartholomew the top goal-scorer in the Indian Super League.
Hyderabad tops the Indian Super League with ten points after four games, a point ahead of Odisha and two points better than Ogbeche’s former club, Mumbai City. Hyderabad will next play Odisha on November 5, 2022.
