Former Nigeria striker Julius Aghahowa has expressed confidence that Eric Chelle will lead the Super Eagles to success, despite the widespread criticism of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appointing the Malian coach.
Aghahowa, however, is choosing to remain optimistic about Chelle’s potential, emphasizing the importance of a fresh approach to the team’s mentality.
“Hopefully, he’ll bring in a different kind of mentality,” Aghahowa told Brila FM.
“We don’t have a talent problem. I would like to see how he impacts the team’s work rate and overall mindset.”
The former striker recounted that the Super Eagles’ biggest challenge has often been the mentality of players transitioning from their club duties to representing Nigeria.
Chelle, 47, is set to arrive in Nigeria on Sunday to finalize his contract and officially take charge of the three-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions.
