Ahmed Musa equals Zidane’s record and surpasses football greats with most caps

Nigeria’s senior national team captain, Ahmed Musa, has surpassed some of the greatest players in history, such as Patrick Vieira, Zinedine Zidane, Jürgen Klinsmann, Frank Lampard, and Tim Cahill, for the number of international appearances.
The 30-year-old forward replaced Moses Simon in the 90th minute of the second-leg encounter against Guinea Bissau at the Estadio 24 de Setembro. It was the Sivasspor forward’s 108th international appearance for the Super Eagles as they defeated Guineans 1-0 in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match to top Group A.
While Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player with the most international appearance in men’s football, Musa’s 108th feature was able to match Zidane, Klinsman, and Cahill’s national caps record, while surpassing Patrick Vieira’s 107 international caps for France, and Frank Lampard’s 106 caps for the Three Lions of England.
Musa, who is currently Nigeria’s most-capped player has represented Nigeria 107 times already, scoring 16 goals including four at the FIFA World Cup, which is the most by a player in the history of the national team.
He has also scored 92 club career goals with 65 assists.
