Al Ahly Rely on Ajayi’s Prowess Against Ismaily Amidst Maaloul’s Absence

In a strategic move ahead of their clash against Ismaily in the Egyptian league on Monday, Al Ahly’s director of football, Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, has expressed the club’s reliance on Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi to spearhead their goal-scoring efforts. Despite the recent setback with player Maaloul, who will be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks due to injury, Abdel-Hafiz remains confident in Ajayi’s capabilities. The Nigerian striker has already netted twice in three Egyptian league appearances this season.
“Maaloul will be out of action for at least two weeks. He will start his recovery program in the next period but we can bank on Junior,” Abdel-Hafiz affirmed to Kingfut. A former Al Ahly player himself, Abdel-Hafiz also reflected on the team’s post-African Champions League final phase, acknowledging the need for time to rebound from the defeat to Wydad Casablanca.
Highlighting the recent league match against Entag El Harby, where the team secured a victory despite subpar performance, Abdel-Hafiz emphasized the importance of accumulating three points. Currently positioned 10th in the league with 10 points after playing just four games, Al Ahly faces a transitional period as they strive to reclaim their dominance following the Champions League final setback.
As the spotlight turns to the impending Ismaily encounter, all eyes will be on Junior Ajayi to deliver a stellar performance and bolster Al Ahly’s standing in the league. The club, rooted in a rich history of success, looks to Ajayi’s goal-scoring prowess as a pivotal factor in their quest for victory.
