Al Ahly Suffers Setback as Star Forward Junior Ajayi Ruled Out of CAFCL Clash Against Esperance Due to Injury

In a significant blow to Al Ahly’s prospects in the CAF Champions League Group A, Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi has been sidelined from the upcoming clash against Tunisian giants Esperance. The talented striker sustained a muscular injury during Al Ahly’s recent Egypt Cup quarter-final encounter against Assiouty Sport, resulting in his premature substitution in the 28th minute.

The confirmation of Ajayi’s injury came from Al Ahly’s director of football, Said Abdel Hafiz, who addressed the media through the club’s official website. Hafiz expressed the necessity of treatment for Ajayi’s injury, emphasizing his absence from the crucial fixture against Esperance.

“Ajayi needs treatment for the injury he picked up in the Egypt Cup game against Assiouty and would be absent from the game against Esperance,” stated Abdel Hafiz, highlighting the importance of the Nigerian forward to the team.

Despite the setback, Ajayi has been a standout performer for Al Ahly this season, boasting an impressive record of 32 appearances across all competitions. The former First Bank of Lagos player has notched up nine goals and provided 11 assists, contributing significantly to the club’s campaign.

As Al Ahly regroups for the upcoming challenge without Ajayi, fans anxiously await to see how the team adapts to the absence of their prolific forward in the crucial CAF Champions League clash against Esperance.
