Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has apologised to Nigerians following his red card in a friendly match against Jordan national football team.
The Nigeria national football team star, who plays for Fulham F.C., was sent off last Tuesday after reacting angrily to a tough challenge, leaving his team with 10 men for the remainder of the game.
Speaking on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast, Iwobi admitted fault and took full responsibility for his actions.
“I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, the coaches, and every Nigerian supporter,” he said. “What I did was not good enough, and that’s why I got sent off.”
The midfielder added that he is focused on learning from the incident and improving going forward.
“It’s something I will learn from. We didn’t lose the game, we got a draw, so we will take the positives and move forward.”
Iwobi, a key figure for the Super Eagles, concluded by reiterating his apology and promising to do better.
“I just want to apologise again for the mistake. I will do better next time.”
