Alex Iwobi: Super Eagles midfielder aims to end Everton’s trophy drought

Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has assured Everton fans that the current set of players will help the club end their 28-year trophy drought.
Iwobi, 26, who joined the Everton from Arsenal on a five-year deal in 2019 and has been performing with the Merseyside club, helping them escape relegation last season and was also able to turn his form around, becoming one of Everton’s best players towards the end of the season, starting all of their last 12 matches.
The Arsenal academy graduate has carried on his form to this season, winning the hearts of Everton fans with his work rate, which has earned him a goal and five assists already in 15 Premier League appearances.
With the hope to continue his impressive run when the EPL resumes after the World Cup break, Iwobi says he understands the frustration of the fans to win a major laurel and has promised that the team would work towards that just as he called for more support to the team and the manager.
“Coming to Everton, I know the club is ambitious and trying to achieve something, so, if I can help them, with the rest of the players, that’s what we want to do and we owe it to them,” the Super Eagles forward said.
“I’ll say the club should stick by him. Not just me but all the players appreciate what he has done. He is a hardworking man who puts his job before his family and he’s a very understanding man, so stick by him,” he said.
