Amaju Pinnick: Emmanuel Amuneke Must Prove Himself at Club Level Before Super Eagles Role

Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick, has said that former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke must first prove himself at club level before being considered for the national team coaching job.

Pinnick made the remarks during an interview with former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, on Oliseh’s YouTube channel, where issues surrounding the Super Eagles coaching position were discussed.

According to the former NFF boss, success with a domestic club remains a key requirement for any coach aspiring to handle the Super Eagles.

“Finidi George is doing well with Rivers United. Amuneke should concentrate on the local club he is handling,” Pinnick said.

He added that Amuneke should focus on delivering tangible results with Heartland FC, where he is currently in charge, rather than talking about the national team job.

“He should prove himself with Heartland FC. The club is not a small club—probably win the Champions League for them—not just talk about the Super Eagles,” Pinnick stated.

Pinnick concluded by stressing that performance and results must be the benchmark, noting that the Super Eagles coaching role is highly demanding.

“The Super Eagles is not just for anybody to handle. Let’s see your results with Heartland FC,” he said.
