Andrew Ikefe: Nigerian defender scores for Al Sahel in Lebanese title playoffs

Nigerian defender, Andrew Ikefe was on the score sheet for his Lebanese side, Al Sahel on Sunday in their 2-1 Premier League title playoffs defeat to Al Ansar.

Ikefe’s goal was an equaliser that came 10 minutes into second half when he volleyed in a cross from right flank that beat Al Ansar keeper.

Former West Brom defender, Ahmed Hegazy had given Al Ansar the lead with last touch of the first before Ikefe’s second goal for the Blue and White club.

Al Sahel could not hold on to score line against the title favorite as they let in another goal in the 61st minute through Malick El Hadji.

The defeat has further dampened Al Sahel’s aspiration to secure a continental slot in the league.

Al Ansar, however profited from the valuable result to cement their position on top of the winners’ playoff standing.
