Asisat Oshoala reconnects with former teammates After Super falcons’ defeat

By Monsurah Olatunji

Following the Super Falcons’ narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain, former Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala took a moment to reconnect with her ex-teammates.

Oshoala, who spent five years at Barcelona before moving to Bay FC in the NWSL, shared a heartfelt reunion with her former Barcelona colleagues, including teenage prodigies Salma Paralluelo and Vicky Lopez, who had the option to represent Nigeria.

Paralluelo, a Spanish-born Nigerian starlet who idolizes the reigning African Player of the Year, and Oshoala were seen exchanging jerseys in a touching display of camaraderie.

In a viral video shared on X, Paralluelo, wearing Michelle Alozie’s shirt, filmed the exchange while Oshoala donned Lopez’s jersey, and vice versa.

Spain clinched the victory with a spectacular late free-kick by two-time Best Women’s Player Alexia Putellas, leaving Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie with no chance.

Despite the loss, Oshoala, known as “Agba Baller,” demonstrated her sportsmanship and class. In the match, she created two scoring opportunities, made two key passes, and achieved a perfect completion rate for both crosses and long passes.

The 28-year-old also won three duels before being substituted in the 73rd minute.

Oshoala’s gesture of reconnecting with her former teammates showed her enduring sportsmanship and professionalism even in the face of defeat.
