Azeezat Obadun reflects on Naija Ratel’s draw with Rivers Angels

Naija Ratels FC played out a 1-1 draw with Rivers Angels on Wednesday, their consecutive draw with the same scoreline after a similar result away from home against Adamawa Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

The Abuja-based side player, Azeezat Obadun, has reflected on the game, stating that the draw was another bitter pill for the team to swallow.

Chisom Nwachukwu opened the scoring for the Jewels of Rivers in the 46th minute, but the lead lasted four minutes before Oluwabunmi Oladeji restored parity.

“I wasn’t really happy about it, but still, we got a point,” Obadun said after the match.

“We weren’t satisfied because we could have won the match if we utilized our chances.

“The plan was to make sure that we win by all means and as for me, I will make sure I convert all my chances to goal any time I am given the opportunity to play.”

With two points from two games so far, Naija Ratels will host Ibom Angels next week.

“Our target is to win the league and not just to participate.” The former Royal Queens player concluded.

Obadun caught the eyes of clubs after her outstanding performance for Oasis Ladies in the second-tier NWFL Championship.

This led to her playing for Royal Queens during the 2023/2024 season before switching to Naija Ratels after the former’s drop to the second-tier league.
