Multi-award-winning artist Divine Ikubor popularly known by his stage name Rema made many Nigerians proud when he was called on stage to perform his global smash hit ‘Calm Down’ to an audience of superstars and football dignitaries at the Ballon d’Or in Theatre du Chalet, Paris, France.
The Nigerian star delivered his hit song “Calm Down” with so much style and swag in the presence of football stars from all over the world.
The 23-year-old entered global superstardom with his hit single Calm Down, which he eventually made a remix for featuring American singer Selena Gomez.
The hit spent a record one year on top of the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart, and peaked at number three on the super competitive Billboard Hot 100, and number one on the Canadian Top Songs chart, according to the Guardian.
His appearance marked a historic moment as he became the very first Afrobeats artist to perform at the prestigious Ballon d’Or awards, underscoring the incredible success he has achieved in the year 2023.
The Ballon d’Or is an esteemed individual award in the world of football, established by France Football magazine in 1956, and Lionel Messi expectedly clinched the men’s prize for the eighth time in his incredible career, owing largely to his triumph with Argentina at the 2022 World Cup.
On the other side,  one of Spain’s 2023 Women’s World Cup winners, Aitana Bonmati won the women’s Ballon d’Or.
