Bayelsa Queens reclaim NWFL Premiership title

On May 17, 2025, Bayelsa Queens were officially crowned champions of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership after a commanding 4-1 victory against Naija Ratels during the final day of the Super Six playoffs at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
This remarkable achievement highlighted the growing competitiveness of the league, as four teams—Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Edo Queens, and Remo Stars Ladies—were all in contention for the title on the last day.
The Prosperity Girls showcased their dominance by securing their sixth league title, with Vera Samuel delivering an outstanding performance, scoring a hat-trick in the 28th, 61st, and 67th minutes, complemented by a goal from Mega Cynthia in the 47th minute.
Although Tumininu Adeshina equalized for Naija Ratels in the 42nd minute, Bayelsa’s superior quality ultimately prevailed.
In another match, Rivers Angels triumphed over Remo Stars Ladies with a score of 2-1, thanks to two goals from Titilayo Aweda, while Aisha Animashaun netted a consolation goal for Remo Stars.
The final standings of the Super Six saw Bayelsa Queens leading with 10 points, followed by Nasarawa Amazons with 9 points, and Edo Queens with 8 points.
For their victory, Bayelsa Queens received a grand prize of ₦10 million, while Nasarawa Amazons and Edo Queens were awarded ₦6 million and ₦4 million, respectively.
The remaining teams, including Rivers Angels, Remo Stars, and Naija Ratels, each received ₦1.5 million.
The trophy presentation was officiated by Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, Ogun State First Lady.
