Beijing Beikong crowned Champions in China as Nigerian duo miss out with Liaoning

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The 2025 Chinese Women’s Super League title race went down to the wire, but it was Beijing Beikong who emerged victorious after a commanding 4-0 win over Liaoning on the final day.

In the clash of the league’s top two sides, Zhao Yujie was the star of the show, scoring a brilliant hat-trick to fire Beijing to glory.

Malian forward Saratou Traore also got on the scoresheet to seal the title for the capital club.

For Nigeria’s duo at Liaoning, it was a day of disappointment.

Macleans Chinonyerem finished the campaign with five goals, while compatriot Folashade Ijamilusi added two, but neither could inspire their side to the championship.

Liaoning ended the season second on 40 points, just one behind champions Beijing Beikong, who will now represent China in the AFC Women’s Champions League.

Despite missing out on the league crown, the season marked another chapter in Ijamilusi’s growing career following her triumph with Nigeria at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
