Head Coach of Abia Warriors, Bethel Orji, has commended his team’s hard-fought victory over Sokoto United in the President’s Federation Cup quarterfinal.
The Umuahia-based club secured a semifinal ticket in the oldest club competition by winning 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
An elated Orji described the victory as a testament to the club’s hard work this season, adding that they will strive even more to win the cup.
“No match is an easy one, be it against smaller or bigger opponents,” Orji remarked. “I commend the boys for showing determination in achieving the win and I want them to double up on it until the end.”
Expressing his personal satisfaction, Orji continued, “I feel great as a coach because this is my first time leading a team to the semifinals of the competition. It’s an honor to have achieved that feat.”
Abia Warriors will face Kano Pillars in the semifinal of the cup competition on June 19th.
